In the book "Colorado Plains, Comanche Crossing Historical Society"" it is mentioned that Per Victor and Anna Lindfors also had a daughter named Freda Victoria (Sometimes she is mentined as Frieda). I now know a little more about her and wanted to write something about her. The first information I found about her was on "the Land and Patent" search. She had owned a piece of land in Denver, CO. Township 5, Direction: South, Range: 62 ,Direction: West. After this I couldn't find any information about her so I assumed she had gotten married and had changed her last name. In august of 2004 I finally had a contact belonging to her family. Thanks to Linda I found out that Freda had indeed married and changed her last name to Benedict. This is what we have found out about her so far! Freda Victoria Lindfors (Benedict) was probably born 1885 in Worchester, Massachussetts. (I haven't been able to find her birthrecords so if someone have the opportunity to help me check this it would be great!) I believe she was born in Worcester since it was the first place her parents lived when they arrived to America in april/may of 1884. But... she might also have been born in Sweden before they left, but so far I haven't been able to find her in any records here. When she was little she lived with the rest of her family, first in Worcester, MA and then in Strasburg, CO. Freda Victoria was the fifth child born to Per Victor Lindfors and his wife Anna Persdotter Lindfors. When Freda Victoria was approx. 17y.o. she married Charles Bowring Benedict , who was 23 years older then her, in Weld County, CO.(This according to the Marriage Licence in Adams County, Licence # A251 ) It was Freda's first marriage and Charles third. (Read about Charles other marriages below!). When Freda and Charles were married they moved to Fort Lupton, Colorado.
Freda and Charles had their first child Halma in
1912, five years after they were married. Then followed 8 more children:
Elaine, Lorraine and Laura (Twins), Francis, Clayton, Fern, Lila and Joyce. Charles first wife Laura E. Johnston passed away (They married in Postmouth, Ohio and had two Children: Ray and Lula) and his second wife Cora divorced him in February of 1907 in Greenwich, Ohio. They had one son together: Elbert. |
