When I first started to search in Colorado I only knew that Mathias Leonards son Leonard Mauritz Lindfors had lived there. I asked many of you if you knew why he moved to Colorado of all places. One of you said that you had heard him say something like: I didn’t leave Sweden in order to make another Sweden in the new country. But from what I have found he actually went to a place where he had at least two uncles who both had families. The first clue to this I found one evening when I was looking at some sites on the internet. By chance I found a page where genealogist can publish transcripts of graves.

I searched on the surname Lindfors and found Mathias Leonards brothers, Erick Magnus Lindfors and Per Victor Lindfors and their families buried in Byers, Arapahoe County, Colorado. Of course I was so “shocked” and happy that it was sooo easy to find them. (Easy- because genealogists are so helpful! I might add!) When this happened I searched a web page called “The Land Patent Search” and found some more interesting facts.

The next step was to ask for help! I posted a query on a Swedish Genealogy site and also on roots web. In just a few hours I got an overwhelming response. I want to mention that I am very thankful for the help I have recieved and the people who I would like to thank especially are mentioned below! All the information I am about to write from now on I can thank them for. From now on: all the notes written in parenthesis are my own comments to the text in the Census.

First we start start off with the:

1910 US Census, Arapahoe County, All Townships ED#18, April 15, 1910, Wolf Creek. page 12 out of 14

Erick Lindfors, 54 yo, owns his farm, emigrated in 1880. His father was Swedish. Mother from Illinois ( This last note, Illinois, is wrong! Ericks Mother was born in Sweden!)

Ericks wife Anna C. 52 y.o. They have been married for 31 years. She has given birth to 9 children but only two of them are alive. Only one son is living in the home, Howard P. 10 y.o. and he was born in Ohio.

On the same page (there for very close geographicly speaking!) is also a Bror Lindfors age 29 who runs a farm. He is married to Agnes also 29 y.o. and born in Massachusetts. They have been married for 3 years and have no children. It says he immigrated in 1890. He is Per Victors son. (Confirmed by Cora Lindfors Hagen in her story)

On the same page is Peter (Per Victor) Lindfors 60 y.o. and wife Annie (Anna) and three children.

Also in Wolf Creek on page 218: Moris (Mauritz) 22 y.o. (actually he was 27 y.o.) is living on another farm which he runs by himself. Born in Illinois by Swedish parents. He is single.
