Victoria

My name is Victoria and I am 34 years old.
I live in
Stockholm but was born in Norrtälje - a coast town about 60 kilometers east of Stockholm. Growing up in a very small village - there
were only a few houses - I had one best friend. He was two years younger than me.

We had a vivid imagination and were never bored. We built huts, played with the animals, played games and almost lived on the bicycle.

In the summers me and my parents spent a lot of time boating. My grandparents live out on an island in the archipelago and we were able to have a boat and a small summerhouse there.

When I started school, I loved
it. It was a small school, only about 65 students between the ages 7-12. My
school was Falu-red with white corners.

When I was 13 years old I had to go to school in Norrtälje. It was quite a
change. It was now a School with about 300 students. But I soon adjusted and
liked that school as well. It was here I first started to enjoy drawing. It
was always my best subject in school.

I also started to have many pen-pals.
I thought it was a very good way to learn English, learn about different cultures and also have friends. If I count all the pen-pals I have had during the years it probably will add up to a hundred. But of course that includes pen-pals I never really got to know. As I got older I kept the Good Pen-pals. I have a few that I have been writing to for about 16-17 years.

I started the gymnasium in Norrtälje. Now a school with almost a 1000 students.
I studied there for four years and graduated from the Society Scientific
Course in 1991
.

After graduation I studied at The University in Stockholm for about a year.
I studied Criminology. It was interesting but I decided it was not for me.

During this time I met Göran and I liked him a lot. We became a couple in
1993.

I took a few shorter courses. Then I got myself a apprentice job at a dentist. I wanted to try the work as a dental nurse. It was great fun and I learned a lot during the year I spent working there. Then I went to school in autumn of 1995 and graduated as a dental nurse in 1996. I then started searching
for work.

In 1995 I moved to Stockholm.

I had no luck getting a dental nurse job in Stockholm. So after almost a
year of searching I got a job at the medical company Pharmacia. I worked in the production as a processing technician.
A very interesting job. I had so many different tasks during the day. Never a dull moment.

After working there for six months I got a permanent job.
I had really nice co-workers as well.

1999 was a very stressful year at work. We got less staff in our department and more to do. I worked too much overtime. I did not feel good at all and I was on sick leave for some time. ( In 2001 I started working again but now in a different department, and Pharmacia is now Pfizer.)

Why did Vicky start doing Genealogy?

When all of this happened I had to come up with something I could do. Something that I could work on, without straining myself.
I have always loved to paint, but I couldn't do that as much as wanted.

I have always wanted to do genealogy but never knew how to start. During this
time my grandmother got an illness in her eyes that caused her to go almost
blind. I knew that she and my grandfather had lots old papers and photos from my grand fathers side of the family. So one evening she came to me with all those papers. And it was sooooo interesting.

Since then genealogy is one of my biggest interests. Other than painting and doing genealogy I like to cook, travel, spend time in the archipelago boating and fishing. I also like every kind of crafts and I like history and going to exhibits of all kinds.

Update!

In summer of 2004 I decided to take a chance to try a new line of  work. I started working at the National Museeum in Stockholm. I worked in the marketing department and I really enjoyed it. However, when the New Year arrived I discovered I was pregnant.

Then Emelie was born in September of 2005. Right now I am home with her, probably will start working part time this coming autumn.

Update!

In january 2007 I started working again. I got a job at a company that runs Swiminghalls and other health facilities. I work at the head office as a receptionist/office adminitrator.
In the beginning it was hard to adjust to being away from Emelie so much, but when I could tell she really liked being at daycare with all her new little friends it got a bit easier.
Now I enjoy work and have found my place in the office.

2007 started out really sad for us. Some of you might wonder why you haven't heard as much from me as usual. Well, it all started in November when we found out Görans sister was ill, then in the end of November we learned she had lungcancer. It all went so fast and she got ill so quickly and it was all just a big shock. She was such a healthy person before this and she had lived a healthy life.
On January 9th she passed away only 38 years old.

She left a husband and two young children a boy and a girl behind.

The whole family was in big shock and it still feels so unreal. We all loved her soooo much!

Now we are all trying to get on with our lives without her and it is hard. Especially when you think of her children and husband.

As you have probably noticed I have taken a break from updating the homepage but I will try and get started with it soon again. I still have much more to add.
